HVAC Filters-Type AFI Tech Sheet

General- The washable type AFI aluminum filter is built to withstand occasional and moderate cleanings. It is designed for use in residential and commercial applications to filter air and it can be used either dry or coated with filter adhesive. Both dry and adhesive coated filters.

Construction- The standard size filter uses a .020" thick aluminum frame to enclose the filter media while the special size filter uses a .030" thick aluminum frame. The corners are mitered, and the frame is secured with pop rivet(s).

The bonded, progressive-density media consists of multiple layers of aluminum foil slit and expanded to several different size openings. The layers are arranged with larger openings at the air entrance and smaller openings at the air exit. This design allows airborne containments to be trapped throughout the entire filter depth and just not at the surface.

Polyurethane Foam | Aluminum Media On Both Sides of FoamSix standard, nominal size filters are available in thickness of 1" (7/8"actual) and 2" (1-7/8 actual) and they are 3/8" undercut on the height and width dimensions.

Special size filters made to exact height and width dimensions as specified are available in thickness of 1/2" (5/16" actual), 1 (7/8" actual) and 2 (1-7/8 actual).

Filter Coats and Cleaning - Filter Coat adhesive helps retain the dirt particles. To clean a dirty filter, rinse it with a moderate-to-heavy stream of warm water. High-powered steam cleaning or chemical dips are unnecessary and not recommended. re-spraying with Filter Coat will help maintain the filter efficiency.

• Tolerances: Height and Width- 1/8" Thickness- 1/32"
• Recommended final resistance- 0.5 W.G.

Construction- 2.0: 2.1 Standard frame shall be .30 or .40 thick aluminum, and special frame shall be .030" thick 3003 H-14 aluminum with mitered corners and secured with pop rivet(s). 2.2 Filter media shall be multiple layers of slit and expanded aluminum foil arranged with larger openings at air entrance and smaller openings at air exit.
