Residential Galvanized Steel Pad Holding Frames
HVAC Filters- Type AFI Tech Sheet
General- The type AFI pad-holding frame is built to offer a flexible and economical method of containing a myriad of pads filtration medias. Whether holding aluminum foam fiberglass, pads, synthetic pads or custom made material, the frame allows the rapid removal and replacement media can be purchased in bulk instead of having to purchase complete filters. Type AFI is designed for use in residential, commercial and industrial applications.
Construction- The type AFI filter uses a 22-guage galvanized steel frame to enclose a support grid. The corners are mitered and the frame is secured with pop rivet(s). The support grid is made of expanded galvanized steel and is permanently attached inside of the flangs on the air exit side. It is made to fit firmly inside the frame giving the type AFI pad holding frame its exceptional strength and durability. Six standard nominal size filters are available in thickness’, of 1’’ (7/8’’actual) and 2’’(1-3/4’’ actual) and they are ½’’ undercut on the height and width dimensions.
Clips Special size filters are made to exact height and width dimensions as specified are available in thickness 1” (7/8” actual), and 2” (1-3/4 actual).
Options- A flexible galvanized steel wire is available. It swivels 180 degrees and offers added security for holding ant media in place. Specify Type AFIG when ordering.

Specifications- General 1.0- Assembly shall be type AFI pad holding frame supplied by AFI.
Construction- 2.1 Frame shall be 22 gauge galvanized steel with mitered corner and secured with pop rivet(s). 2.2 support grids shall be expanded galvanized steel permanently attached to inside flange on air exit side of frame. 2.3 Optional gate shall be 3/16’’ diameter galvanized steel wire that swivels 180 degrees.
Performance- 3.0 3.1 Initial and final resistance shall not exceed the scheduled values. 3.2 Manufacturer guarantees performance stated in literature within tolerances outlined in section 7.
