Air Filters Incorporated’s Astro-Pak extended surface rigid cell filters are designed and constructed to withstand difficult environments, including variable air volume (VAV) systems where high-velocity airflow changes occur. The Astro-Pak uses a high-efficiency micro-glass fiber or synthetic fiber filter media, which provides quality performance and a high dust holding capacity. The media is supported by a heavy-duty, expanded metal backing that is laminated to the air exit side of the media to aid in maintaining its rigid configuration even in the harshest environments. Flame-retardant plastic media separators (fingers) ensure that the media pleats stay uniform and are kept in place throughout the filter life. To ensure maximum rigidity and prevent any possible media pack shifting during high-velocity conditions, diagonal, metal reinforcing struts are attached to the galvanized filter frame. The Astro-Pak high-efficiency rigid air filter is available in a MERV 11, 13, 14, and 15, in either a standard box-style or with a single header.
