Safety First: Creating a Healthier, Cleaner Shooting Range Experience

SHOOTING RANGE AIR FILTRATION CHALLENGE: 

A shooting range in Texas was operating with an outdated and undersized air filtration system that relied solely on 2” pleated filters. These filters frequently collapsed under overload, allowing excessive airborne particulates to circulate through the shooting booths and across both customers and staff. As a result, employees recorded elevated blood-lead levels, and customers were exposed to unsafe air quality.

The proposed retrofit required a 2-stage filtration system using MERV15 pocket filters and HEPA housings capable of handling 20,000 CFM. However, installation posed significant constraints: the unit had to fit above the backstop within a limited space, could not be floor-mounted, and needed to pass through standard-sized doors.

SHOOTING RANGE AIR FILTRATION SOLUTION: 

To meet these challenges, our housing department engineered two modular 10,000 CFM filter housings. These units were designed to fit through standard doorways and be suspended from the ceiling, allowing for seamless integration within the restricted space above the backstop.

SHOOTING RANGE AIR FILTRATION RESULT:

The implementation of pocket filters and HEPA 5V-cell high capacity filter combination significantly improved air quality throughout the range. This upgrade created a cleaner, safer environment for both employees and customers, reducing health risks and enhancing overall operational safety.
