Industrial Grade Aluminum Filter

HVAC Filters- Type AFI Tech Sheet

General-The washable Type AFI industrial grade filter is built to withstand frequent and moderate cleanings. An aluminum frame makes Type AFI the lightest weight filter in the industrial grade class. It is designed for use in commercial and industrial applications to filter air, grease and coolant mists, and it can be used either dry or coated with filter adhesive.

Construction- The Type AFI filer uses a .030” thick 3003 H-14 aluminum frame to enclose the filter media pack. The corners are mitered and the frame is secured with pop rivet(s).The media consists of multiple layers of corrugated aluminum screen wire, assembled in a criss-cross fashion for strength, placed between two expanded galvanized steel grids. The media is made to fit firmly inside the frame giving the type AFI industrial grade filter its exceptional strength and durability.

• The ½” filter is 4-ply, the 1” (7/8’’ actual) is 5-ply and the 2’’ (1-3/4’’actual) is 7-ply.
• Six standard nominal size filters are available in thickness’, of 1’’ (7/8’’actual) and 2’’(1-3/4’’ actual) and they are ½’’ undercut on the height and width dimensions.
• Special size filters are made to exact height and width dimensions as specified are available in thickness of ½” (1/2”actual), 1” (7/8” actual), and 2” ( 1-3/4 actual).

Options- The two styles of handles are available. Handles may be installed on the filters at the factory or purchased separately for field installation.

Bail Handles are swivel 180 Degrees and can be closed when not in use.

Lift Handles are stationary and cannot be closed.

Filter Coats and Cleaning - Filter Coat adhesive helps retain the dirt particles. To clean a dirty filter, rinse it with a moderate-to-heavy stream of warm water. High-powered steam cleaning or chemical dips are unnecessary and not recommended. re-spraying with Filter Coat will help maintain the filter efficiency.

• Thickness- 1/32”
• Recommended final resistance- 0.5 “ W.G
